Description

Under the direction of the Automation Program Manager and within a team environment, design electrical systems, create control panel layouts, and program PLC and other control systems based on customer requirements.

Tasks

  • Design electrical control systems for automated equipment.
  • Program electrical control systems including:
  • PLCs
  • Sensors
  • Servo Systems
  • HMIs
  • Communication hardware
  • Review sales and engineering information to design automated control systems.
  • Modify and adapt existing models for use on similar or new project applications
  • Create electrical schematics for manufacturing and assembly of electrical systems
  • Prepare complete bill of materials for production order
  • Generate specifications and define requirements for vendor & purchased equipment
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team including mechanical and robotics engineering as well as manufacturing and technical services.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings, design review meetings, factory acceptance tests, attend training and other relevant meetings as necessary
  • Create user & service manuals as well as spare parts lists for equipment and production cells
  • Provide engineering technical support to other team members throughout the company as necessary
  • Assist with project quoting efforts by providing mechanical engineering labor and material estimates as necessary
  • Perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor

Qualifications / Education

  • Associates or Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Minimum of five years related experience with PLC programming is required
  • High energy and organized individual
  • Strong interpersonal/teamwork/leadership skills
  • Knowledge of powder compaction markets/applications a plus
  • Willing to travel out of local area up to 20%
  • Rockwell Studio 5000
  • Rockwell Factory Talk
  • AutoCad Electrical
  • Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics
  • Experience-general knowledge w/robots
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s license
