Description

Responsible for operating machine tools to produce precision metal parts. Produces small batches or large quantities of metal parts. Ensure products meet precise specifications.

Tasks

  • Repairs and performs maintenance and modifications on existing powdered metal tooling as instructed by supervisor or engineering. 
  • Plan, lay-out and set-up, conventional EDM’s and surface grinders. 
  • Bring part to final dimensions through polishing and bench work. 
  • Ability to grind various forms and other geometrical shapes is a must. 
  • Good trigonometry and geometry math skills is required 
  • Thorough knowledge of blueprint reading and geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing is required. 
  • Knowledge of grinding on various hardened tool steels. 
  • Individual problem-solving skills and ability to work independently will be given precedence over others. 

Qualifications / Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent, 3-5 years’ experience in a Toolmaker position preferred. 
  • Proficient in Mathematics and Blueprint Reading 
  • Ability to take measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc. 
  • Written and verbal communication 
  • Lifting a maximum of 25 pounds regularly. This job requires extensive amounts of walking, standing, and sitting.
