Description
Responsible for the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility ensuring company financial goals are met. To ensure success this individual will have oversight relative to employee and machine capacity, capabilities and efficiencies. This also requires reporting to and working with the General Manager to resolve any problem areas to maximize profits, and meet scheduling deadlines. The Production Manager also works closely with the Process Engineer providing operational feedback for continuous improvement of processes. Customer account management may be required.
Tasks
- Plans and coordinates daily assignment of jobs to ensure scheduling deadlines can be met.
- Works with Management to have an efficient and trained production staff to process the various jobs.
- Schedules and coordinates machine maintenance plans ensuring equipment is operating at optimal performance levels.
- Identifies and reports and participates in planning and addressing critical bottleneck area(s) in manufacturing.
- Responsible for the general appearance of the manufacturing facility.
- Works closely with the Process Engineer to identify process improvements that will help achieve financial goals.
- Participates in discussions with vendors to ensure adequate stock levels of essential general shop supplies.
- Stays current with industrial advancements and technology, identify and report on areas that could have a positive impact on the operation.
- Interacts and coordinates production needs with various customers.
- Participates, advises and assists with growth plans.
Qualifications / Education
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or Business Management and 5+ years of proven success in senior manufacturing/production role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated problem solver in a technical environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and familiarity with ERP concepts (Infor Visual a plus)
- Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation and inventory processes
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
