Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Description

The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and provides the vision, leadership, management, and overall direction to accomplish the organization’s mission, maximize opportunities, create solutions, and meet or exceed the organization’s standards. The CEO creates and sustains an environment for continuous improvement, financial stability, and capacity development, both for the organization and its team members; ensuring programs and services respond to consumer and community needs. The CEO builds relationships and community partnerships designed to overcome barriers and find family and community solutions. The CEO ensures that operational activities are managed and administered in accordance with the board and grantor guidelines.

Tasks

  • Direct the development of all programming, initiatives, activities, and performance improvement goals for the organization.
  • Assist the governing Board of Directors in establishing policy, planning, and being accountable for the achievement of the organization’s objectives and goals.
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures to the Board regarding the organization and its operation. Ensure that all policies, instructions, and resolutions of the Board are implemented.
  • Determines organizational vision given anticipated opportunities and perceived vulnerabilities. Establishes priorities and allocates resources accordingly and responds timely and effectively as conditions change. 
  • Manage staff to ensure effective and efficient operations; accountable and transparent fiscal management of the organization.
  • Lead efforts to create new and documented alliances, partnerships and collaborations within the community that will help advance Community Action, Inc.’s mission.
  • Promote the organization and its mission through public and community relations, outreach, and involvement.
   

Qualifications / Education

1.    A Master Degree of Public Administration or Business Administration and a minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in public administration, business, and/or nonprofit related field; or
2.    Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of seven years of progressive leadership experience in public administration, business and/or nonprofit related field.
3.    Knowledge or experience of federal, state, and local grant funded requirements.
