Description
Safely transport the residents to the prescribed locations; to maintain a professional manner at all times during transport and while in contact with the community; to cooperate with the Supervisor to maintain transport schedules in a timely manner; to maintain the cleanliness and function of the transport vehicle. Does related work as required.
Tasks
- Drives the vehicle for transportation to the appropriate areas;
- Ability to drive the vehicle and to manipulate the vehicle in limited areas (i.e. alleys, back doors of physician’s offices, backing into a designated area at a physician’s office);
- As time allows, performs miscellaneous duties requested by the supervisor;
- Keeps the inside and outside of the vehicle clean at all times;
- Maintains various resident schedules for clinic services via email communications from units;
- Assists in cleaning of items from the floors and supply room;
- Assists on the nursing units to provide care when time permits;
- Transports laboratory specimens to hospital, as necessary;
- Cooperates with the maintenance department in keeping the vehicles in working condition and inspected in a timely manner;
- Have ability to manage stress tolerance, pressure and anxiety;
- Performs additional functions or special projects, as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications / Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Drivers’ license with a minimum of two years with a clean driving records; Acceptance by facility’s insurance carrier without the label of “high risk”.
- Sufficient training and experience in healthcare in order to perform daily tasks with an understanding of the duties involved. MVR
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes meeting the quality standards for services and providing customer satisfaction. Proven experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with multiple levels of the organization.
- Knowledge on how to operate a desktop computer used to enter, access, and/or retrieve data. Effective degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of staff and residents, data, and the Facility as a whole.
- Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services. This includes, but is not limited to, meeting the quality standards for sound nursing techniques and treatment practices, knowledge of medical treatments, and health care sanitation and hygiene, in a manner which promotes resident satisfaction.
- Ability to give full attention to what others are saying. Taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions, if appropriate. Ability to hear and respond to residents.
- Ability to communicate effectively across the organization in English. Includes the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals and the aptitude to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and be understood by others.

- Ability to understand equipment function and operation such as lifting equipment, oxygen usage, and other medical equipment used in the performance of Nursing duties. Ability to use other computer technology as trained required to complete job duties.
- An understanding of the principal of adult learning and their application in a nursing home setting to nursing and non-nursing personnel. Good knowledge of modern training techniques applied to the development of sub-professional and professional personnel. Ability to use logic to solve practical problems to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Strong problem solving skills and the ability to be flexible and change directions when needed.
- Ability to develop specific goals and plans in order to organize, and accomplish work. Detail-oriented with very strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment while remaining calm under pressure.
