Consumer and Family Advocate

Description

Responsible for serving as the liaison between the individual, his/her family or legal guardians and governing systems and other social service organizations. The Consumer & Family Advocate’s goal is to provide support and access to necessary services needed while in the program and connections after discharge.

Tasks

  • Prepare and publish weekly activity schedule, incorporating client input.
  • Participating in quality improvement activities.
  • Ensuring restraint reduction activities.
  • Promoting the observance of individual's rights.
  • Reviewing grievances.

Qualifications / Education

  • High school diploma required.
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Human Development, Child Development or another social service program is preferred. Comprehension of state and federal codes, laws and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of local community resources and services including those provide by school districts, social service agencies and local assistance programs.
  • Prior experience with families in a school or social service setting and understand principles of child development, education and crisis intervention.
