Machine Shop Manager

Description
Responsible for adhering to machine shop schedule for flow of product through shop floor. Assist in product routing as required for optimum efficiency. Supervises a team of 20 - 30 machinists.
Tasks
- Supervises all machine shop employees
- Workflow output to support strategic initiatives
- Responsible for ongoing training
- Responsible for the safety of entire department
- Provides leadership and direction including coordination between shifts, overtime, and vacations as required.
- Conducts department meeting to go over production, schedules, orders, etc.
- Handles employee evaluations
- Responsible for disciplinary actions (in conjunction with Human Resources)
- Determine equipment and tooling needs
- Manage cost reduction efforts
- Work closely with the scheduler to meet production goals / deadlines.
- Perform regular duties of a machinist as needed (running orders, reading blueprints, machine setup, etc.)
Qualifications / Education
- High school diploma required and or GED. Should have formal schooling from a college or trade school with a relevance to machining or machining technology. Must have 7+ years of related experience.
- Machining equipment
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Effective Communication Skills
- Supervisory / Leadership Skills
- Proficient in measuring equipment (Micrometers, dial indicators, etc.)
- Understands product routing / process flow
- Lifting a maximum of 5 pounds regularly. This job requires extensive amounts of walking, standing, sitting, lifting.
