Description

Provides and coordinates all aspects of treatment, evaluation, support services and education for patients receiving service within the Endocrinology department. Provides clinical functions in support of Endocrinologist. Participates in maintaining a safe, cost-effective patient care environment. 

Tasks

  • Measure and record patients' vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate.
  • Prepare patients for medical procedures or exams.
  • LPNs may assist in minor procedures like wound care or administering injections.
  • Administer prescribed medications, including oral medications and injections.
  • Follow specific treatment protocols under the direction of a physician or registered nurse.
  • Educate patients about their health conditions, medications, and self-care routines.

Qualifications / Education

  • Current state licensure to practice as a Practical Nurse required
  • Prerequisite experience desirable for positions in specialty units
  • Certification in CPR required within 90 days of hire
  • Crisis Management within 6 months of hire
  • Ability and willingness to accept responsibility and make sound decisions under stressful conditions within scope of practice required
  • Ability to work intimately with patients, doctors, nursing staff and families of patients
  • Appropriate nursing practice/experience (within the past three years)
