Description
Work one-on-one to assist individuals with intellectual developmental delays. Our staff work to teach basic life skills such as shopping, socialization with other individuals, and participating in their community. Our goal is in helping individuals successfully enjoy an everyday life and be an active participant in their community.
Tasks
- Models and fosters an organizational culture of respect, cooperation, and service excellence.
- Assists consumers in learning skills and achieving independence.
- Follow steps of process which include: opening a consumer, writing accurate service activity logs (SALs) using the goal plan from the Individual Service Plan, writing collaboration documentation, and closing of consumer. Plans work schedule based on consumer's needs, regularly attends scheduled appointments with consumers and comes to office to complete paperwork.
- Develops therapeutic relationships with consumers, while maintaining professional boundaries. Understands and implements the concepts of Every Day Lives for People with Disabilities.
Qualifications / Education
- High School Diploma or equivalency is required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social welfare, physical education, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or any other human service or social service related field is preferred
