Description
Responsible for performing experienced energy technician work by completing advanced steam trap maintenance, steam system repairs, condensate system design, and equipment troubleshooting. This position supports steam system efficiency, coordinates and oversees contractor work, leads safety and team meetings when needed, and helps plan daily work to keep refinery operations running safely and effectively.
Tasks
Perform advanced steam trap maintenance, installation, and valve stem packing procedures for VOC maintenance of steam systems.
Build steam manifolds and maintain steam traps, monitors, repairs, tags, and tracking records.
Check, maintain, repair, tag, and track over 2,500 steam traps to maintain adequate temperatures.
Use advanced knowledge of process equipment and repairs to determine what steam traps and heaters do.
Draw piping diagrams and follow manufacturer specifications and drawings for steam trap and condensate system installation.
Conduct trap surveys, review and document trap survey records, and develop inspection plans for steam heaters and steam traps.
Coordinate and oversee contractors, lead safety topics, facilitate meetings, plan work, and fill in for the supervisor when needed.
Qualifications / Education
High School Diploma required.
Asbestos training preferred.
Leadership training preferred.
6–8 years of experience preferred.
Minimum 1 year at ARG preferred but not required.
Knowledge of steam trap design and installation required.
Knowledge of steam trace tubing installation required.
Advanced knowledge of pipe threading and fitting functions required.
Advanced knowledge of insulation design and installation preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Suite, time entry, ADP, SafetyAmp, steam trap management systems, and CMMS preferred.
