Instrument Technician Journeyman II

Description
Responsible for performing journeyman-level instrument maintenance work, including troubleshooting, calibration, system configuration, and plant instrumentation support. This position works independently or with others, follows safety procedures, responds to off-shift callouts, and helps maintain reliable operation of instrument systems and equipment.
Tasks
Keep the work area clean, orderly, and safe.
Follow direction from supervisors or designated employees and refer complex problems when needed.
Follow safety rules, housekeeping practices, PPE requirements, and safe equipment operation procedures.
Operate instrument maintenance equipment and communicate with instrument devices.
Update instrument tag data, redline plant drawings, and perform control valve maintenance and troubleshooting.
Configure advanced pressure, flow, temperature, and level instrumentation and troubleshoot custody transfer, burner management, and loading systems.
Troubleshoot PLC systems, modify PLC software, tune DCS control loops, configure AMS instrumentation, trend DCS data, and perform field root cause analysis.
Qualifications / Education
High School Diploma required.
Associate degree preferred.
Passing Instrument Technician I test required.
4–6 years of experience preferred.
Minimum 1 year at ARG preferred but not required.
Certification required for manlift, scissor lift, and forklift.
Proficient understanding of instrument diagrams, P&IDs, instrument signals, conduit bending, tubing bending, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical troubleshooting.
Experience with Microsoft Suite, time entry, ADP, SafetyAmp, AMS Device Manager, Studio 5000, ProLink II, RadarMaster, Accumate, Instrument Forms Plus, MMS, Rosemount Wireless Gateway, field communicator, and Fuel Facs preferred.
