Description
Responsible for identifying and installing insulation systems for refinery equipment, piping, tanks, vessels, and refractory applications while ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. Responsible for performing insulation repairs, jacketing, removable blanket fabrication, inventory management, and refractory work on boilers and fired heaters. Responsible for maintaining safe work practices, operating tools and equipment, coordinating with contractors, and supporting efficient project completion through strong communication, leadership, and technical skills.
Tasks
Inspect insulation systems and refractory materials for damage, wear, and maintenance needs.
Measure, fabricate, and install metal jacketing, end caps, fish mouths, and insulation coverings.
Assist with steam trap and steam trace tubing installation and maintenance.
Monitor and maintain insulation material inventory levels and jobsite supplies.
Complete material takeoffs and maintain accurate project documentation and reports.
Coordinate daily activities with contractors, supervisors, and maintenance teams.
Maintain clean and organized work areas while following all PPE and safety requirements.
Qualifications / Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
Asbestos Training certification preferred.
4–6 years of industrial insulation experience required.
Minimum 1 year of refinery or plant experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge of insulation design, installation, refractory systems, and metal fabrication techniques.
Ability to build gores, miters, removable blankets, fish mouths, and end caps.
Familiarity with steam traps, steam trace tubing, and industrial piping systems.
Strong communication, teamwork, leadership, and conflict management skills.
Ability to safely operate forklifts, JLG manlifts, hand tools, and shop equipment.
Understanding of PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and industrial safety regulations.
