Description
The Transportation and Municipal Support Coordinator is responsible for working on, safety, and active transportation planning while also effectively assisting local municipalities by offering comprehensive support in multimodal grant writing, addressing road-related concerns, and providing essential guidance for business operations, particularly in the context of Highway Occupancy Permits (HOP). This role aims to enhance the operational efficiency of local governments, promote safe and efficient road infrastructure, and facilitate seamless business operations while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Tasks
- Identify opportunities to expand active transportation infrastructure, including bike lanes and trails.
- Conduct surveys of municipalities to assess training needs and requirements.
- Build relationships with local agencies to promote program awareness and participation.
- Attend municipal meetings, county conventions, and COG gatherings to promote the LTAP program.
- Guide businesses in obtaining Highway Occupancy Permits (HOP) for commercial road access.
- Educate businesses on HOP requirements, application processes, and compliance regulations.
- Research and identify grants for municipalities related to road infrastructure and community development.
Qualifications / Education
Education – Bachelor's degree in regional planning, public relations, engineering, public administration, or a related field.; OR equivalent education/training and experience combined.
Experience – Proven experience in developing and implementing successful communications strategies, preferably in a public or regional planning context.
