Description

Determine WIC Program eligibility for low-risk families. Complete hematological testing, assess anthropometrical measurements, nutritional assessment, and assign nutrition risk codes. Prepare and implement participant nutrition education plans.

Tasks

  • Conduct participant assessments and document WIC risk codes for proper identification.
  • Prepare nutrition and breastfeeding care plans, and document participant contacts for low-risk cases.
  • Tailor and prescribe food packages for low-risk participants based on assessments.
  • Deliver and document nutrition education, promoting breastfeeding support.
  • Refer participants to health and social service programs and document referrals and follow-up.
  • Participate in meetings and continuing education programs as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the Nutrition Education Coordinator, CPA, or Breastfeeding Coordinator when needed.

Qualifications / Education

Education – Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); bachelor’s or associate degree in any field or successful completion of college course(s) in nutrition or dietetics from an accredited college or university is recommended. 
Experience – One year of experience as a Program Assistant or Breastfeeding Peer Counselor; or one year of experience in a related field.
