Description

Provide therapeutic support to the child/adolescent and family in specified areas of social, behavioral and emotional concern and needs that have been identified by the child/youth and family and addressed in the treatment plan. Strengthening and supporting the family to improve coping skills, educate family members on advocating and caring for their child, crisis stabilization, utilizing community resources, and coordination of care. To provide support to the child that facilitates the growth and development of the child and the development of therapeutic support skills in the parents, family members, educators and others to ensure that such support is maintained for the child as professional interventions are decreased and terminated.

Tasks

  • Completing intake sessions in a timely manner so that appropriate referrals can be made.
  • Document important info and data promptly and professionally as directed by the program director.
  • Use appropriate treatment methods—individual, group, family, or collateral therapy—as needed.
  • Encourage consumers to use the Common Ground Center and provide psychoeducation as appropriate.
  • Communicate with DSC staff on wellness needs; assign tracks, review reports, and make referrals.

Qualifications / Education

  • Education Requirements: Must have either: A Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university that is accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the CHEA in a recognized clinical discipline including social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation or activity therapies. A graduate degree in a clinical discipline with 12 graduate-level credits in mental health or counseling from a program that is accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the CHEA. An equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the AICE or the NACES. The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency. Licensed eligible professional and prior experience preferred.
