Surgical Scheduler

Description

Support the Physician or Advanced Practice Provider to obtain all authorizations for surgery. The Surgical Scheduler will schedule the surgery and prepare all necessary items needed prior to the day of procedure. 

Tasks

  • Coordinate with surgeons, patients, and OR staff to schedule surgeries.
  • Confirm surgery dates and provide patients with pre-op instructions.
  • Ensure patients are informed about required preparations.
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations.
  • Collect and review consent forms and medical records.
  • Ensure surgical checklists and documentation are complete.
  • Support smooth surgical scheduling through clear communication.

Qualifications / Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior administrative office procedures within a physician office
  • Knowledge & experience in payor authorization requirements
  • CPR Certification through the American Heart Association required within first year of hire
  • NHA or NCCT Medical Assistant Certification
