Description

The Sawmill Supervisor will manage the day-to-day operations of the log yard and sawmill while promoting safety, quality, productivity, recovery, and employee development.

Tasks

  • Lead safe work environment; train and motivate employees in safe equipment use.
  • Engage in continuous education and lead safety behavior by example.
  • Act as backup for all positions to ensure continual operations.
  • Manage sawmill process flow to meet performance objectives.
  • Research and implement methods to improve lumber recovery, grade, and costs.
  • Process employee time/attendance and produce daily production/safety reports.
  • Support operations with key variable tracking, data analysis, and other duties.

Qualifications / Education

  • Recruit, hire, and manage sawmill employees.
  • Responsible for performance management of direct reports in accordance with company values, objectives, and policies.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, training, and support consistent with developing and sustaining a high-performing and accountable team.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate team members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a log yard and sawmill environment.
  • Proven success at prior supervisory experience preferred.
