Description
The Lumber Inspector applies the requisite grading rules of the NHLA to identify grades of lumber.
Tasks
- Comply with safety standards; report any observed hazards immediately.
- Assign lumber grades per company and NHLA guidelines.
- Communicate with inspectors and supervisors for ongoing education.
- Stay updated on lumber markets and product values.
- Mark lumber for trimming to maximize market value; verify stamp legibility.
- Report manufacturing defects to supervisor and assist in inspections.
- Mentor Entry Lumber Inspectors; perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications / Education
- Hold a Hardwood Lumber Inspector certificate from the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) or have the equivalent experience.
- Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
