Lumber Inspector Grading - Ship Shed

Description

The Lumber Inspector applies the requisite grading rules of the NHLA to identify grades of lumber.

Tasks

  • Comply with safety standards; report any observed hazards immediately.
  • Assign lumber grades per company and NHLA guidelines.
  • Communicate with inspectors and supervisors for ongoing education.
  • Stay updated on lumber markets and product values.
  • Mark lumber for trimming to maximize market value; verify stamp legibility.
  • Report manufacturing defects to supervisor and assist in inspections.
  • Mentor Entry Lumber Inspectors; perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications / Education

  • Hold a Hardwood Lumber Inspector certificate from the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) or have the equivalent experience.
  • Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
