Description

The Lands Manager oversees the inventory, Geographic Information Systems, property disposition, easements, and licenses in support of forest management of the commercial forestland operated by a long-term forest products company with lands in Warren, Venango, Clarion, Forest, Elk, McKean, Jefferson, Elk, Clearfield, Cameron, and Potter counties, Pennsylvania.

Tasks

  • Manage all silvicultural activities including layout, marking, invasives, and forest health issues.
  • Lead safety, set department goals, track performance, and prepare budget and strategic plans.
  • Maintain FSC certification; lead audit prep, response, and all related compliance reporting.
  • Ensure harvest basket holds one year of allowable volume and conduct inventory calculations.
  • Evaluate land transactions; manage contracts and political/public relations as needed.
  • Lead rolling inventory data collection, modeling, and prepare AgCredit and CPF operations plans.
  • Collaborate with oil/gas partners to protect assets; supervise team and foster innovation.

Qualifications / Education

  • Expert-level computer skills, including the suite of applications in Microsoft Office and ARC-GIS applications supported through ESRI.
  • Must be able to perform rigorous, field-based work in all weather conditions, on steep, brush-filled terrain.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems. Ability to collaboratively solve problems.
  • High level of personal integrity and ethical and professional standards.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience in forestry, biology, forest engineering, natural resource management, economics, business, plant biology, plant genetics, or agriculture sciences.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of field-based forestry operations.
  • Minimum of five (5) year of supervisory experience preferred.
