Description
The Electrician maintains, repairs, modifies, and installs electrical, instrument, and computer systems in a wood products facility to ensure optimal operations.
Tasks
- Follow all safety rules and report or correct any electrical hazards or unsafe work conditions.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and components during manufacturing.
- Maintain A.C./D.C. systems, drives, controls, motors, wiring, and control module components.
- Apply PLC, HMI, and network communication knowledge to optimize plant electrical operations.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with current codes, standards, and safety requirements.
- Guide trainees on installations, schematics, tools, safety, and understanding electrical theory.
- Communicate with team members and supervisor; complete other tasks; on-site presence required.
Qualifications / Education
- Associate degree in electrical maintenance and construction technology preferred.
- One year of experience working as an industrial electrician or be a licensed electrician from states that provide licensing.
- Have an advanced understanding of industrial electrical safety, MCCs, three-phase power, running conduit, lighting, and schematics.
- Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
- Provide basic tools to perform routine electrical activities.
- May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable temperatures and weather conditions.
- Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, and a face shield.
