Description

The Dry End Supervisor will manage the day-to-day operations of the planer, kilns, and shipping departments while promoting safety, quality, productivity, recovery, and employee development.

Tasks

  • Lead safe work environment; train and motivate employees on equipment safety.
  • Act as backup for all dry end positions to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage lumber flow through planer, kilns, and shipping departments.
  • Research and implement methods to improve grade recovery and reduce costs.
  • Communicate pricing reports to Lumber Inspectors for upgrade opportunities.
  • Mentor and manage dry end team; provide coaching and performance support.
  • Track operations data, process attendance, and perform additional duties.

Qualifications / Education

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate team members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Proven success at prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Diverse background in the sawmill industry.
  • Hold a hardwood lumber inspector certificate from the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) or have the equivalent experience.
