Description
The Dry End Supervisor will manage the day-to-day operations of the planer, kilns, and shipping departments while promoting safety, quality, productivity, recovery, and employee development.
Tasks
- Lead safe work environment; train and motivate employees on equipment safety.
- Act as backup for all dry end positions to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage lumber flow through planer, kilns, and shipping departments.
- Research and implement methods to improve grade recovery and reduce costs.
- Communicate pricing reports to Lumber Inspectors for upgrade opportunities.
- Mentor and manage dry end team; provide coaching and performance support.
- Track operations data, process attendance, and perform additional duties.
Qualifications / Education
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate team members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Proven success at prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Diverse background in the sawmill industry.
- Hold a hardwood lumber inspector certificate from the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) or have the equivalent experience.
