Description

The Division Controller is a highly skilled person who will create value for the company by partnering with the operations and resource team. The individual must be forward thinking and excellent at solving problems while focusing on accounting activities with the potential for a broader scope of responsibilities.

Tasks

  • Analyze financials monthly: budget variance, accruals, depreciation, and inventory valuation.
  • Maintain accounting controls and procedures to ensure compliance with accepted practices.
  • Oversee inventory counts and valuation; ensure cost or market method is correctly applied.
  • Coordinate budget prep and quarterly forecasts with sales, operations, and forestry teams.
  • Perform financial analysis for facilities, capital projects, and CIP evaluations.
  • Supervise Accounting Technician; manage performance and support with mentoring and training.
  • Prepare audit materials, manage cash procedures, and ensure contract compliance.

Qualifications / Education

  • Strong budgetary understanding and focus and strong operational accounting understanding.
  • Ability to self-direct and prioritize workflow.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and manage the function, consistent with corporate and fiduciary principles and guidelines, while participating as a member of the local facility team.
  • High level of personal integrity and ethical and professional standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or the equivalent experience required.
  • Strong accounting experience including balance sheet account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the wood products industry preferred.
