Description
The Cleanup Laborer is an entry level position introducing the employee to the basic components of a sawmill.
Tasks
- Follow safety rules and report or correct any hazards seen while performing job duties.
- Sweep, shovel, and remove wood debris, broken boards, and sawdust from floors and equipment.
- Lift, pull, and push lumber; operate a wheelbarrow to haul and dispose of waste materials.
- Use air to blow debris from floors and machines to maintain a clean and safe workspace.
- Clear waste system clogs (hog, chipper, conveyors) and identify maintenance needs.
- Use hand/power tools (circular saw, chainsaw) to break up and remove materials as needed.
- Learn to operate skid-steer, tractor, and chipper; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Education
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Knowledge and ability to operate hand tools and a chain saw and other power tools preferred.
- Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
