Description
Responsible for providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with addiction issues or co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues. The position will provide outreach, mentoring, and peer support at all stages of the recovery process. The position includes face to face contact both individually and in groups; assisting individuals in developing a recovery plan and achieving objectives; assisting individuals in selecting services and/or program offerings that will be useful in achieving their recovery goals; offering support and mentoring as needed in the implementation of the recovery plan; and, exploring, securing and utilizing each client's support network and/or community resources.
Tasks
- Assists clients in choosing treatment strategies aligned with their goals and preferences.
- Uses counseling techniques and consults with staff to ensure quality drug and alcohol services.
- Conducts DDAP-approved biopsychosocial intakes and administers Addiction Severity Index.
- Monitors clients’ mental status and medication effectiveness; documents progress clearly.
- Facilitates counseling groups and individual sessions using tailored approaches and recovery tools.
- Maintains accurate and timely client session documentation; manages no-show clients effectively.
- Provides clinical consultation and coordinates resources; builds positive relationships with providers.
Qualifications / Education
- High School graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a minimum of three years in recovery from addiction to alcohol or other drugs and have a strong recovery program that includes natural supports
- Must have Recovery Specialist certification through the Pennsylvania Certification Board
