Description
Responsible for the organization, structure, maintenance, and security of the clinical record. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for releasing the confidential client information contained in the clinical record within proper state mental health and Federal HIPAA compliance guidelines. This position requires the incumbent to have excellent computer skills and understanding of information systems with the ability to assist the organization in moving toward an electronic clinical record.
Tasks
- Builds relationships with DPW, SSA, courts, lawyers, and advocates at all levels.
- Completes local, state, and federal correspondence accurately and on time.
- Maintains confidentiality per laws; checks releases and meets HIPAA/JCAHO rules.
- Shows concern and courtesy when assisting clients, families, staff, and the public.
- Uses knowledge of records to present info accurately and ensure records are complete.
Qualifications / Education
- High School diploma or equivalent; education & experience in medical records preferred.
- Word processing speed of at least 50 words per minute. Exceptional communication skills, both written & verbal, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional computer skills. Act 33 (Child Abuse), Act 34 (PA State Police), Act 31 (Child Abuse Reporting and Recognition) and FBI clearances required.
