Description

Responsible for oversight and management of the Healthcare Information Department of the affiliated entities. The incumbent will ensure the organization, structure, maintenance and security of clinical records. In addition, the incumbent will oversee the release of confidential client information, to include subpoenas and court orders, contained in the clinical record within proper state mental health and federal HIPAA guidelines. This position will also serve as Privacy Officer in the affiliation and as such, ensure compliance with all privacy and security practices and procedures. The position requires the incumbent to have excellent computer skills and the understanding of information systems with the ability to assist the organization to move toward an electronic clinical record. This position shall also serve on the core teams for electronic health records used by the affiliates of Journey Health System and attend the operational meetings of the affiliated entities as needed.

Tasks

  • Directly supervise and manage daily department functions.
  • Align staffing for efficient and effective services delivery.
  • Review and provide staff development, training, and orientations.
  • Serve as Privacy Officer, ensuring HIPAA and privacy law compliance.
  • Oversee development and adherence to privacy policies and procedures.
  • Direct staff training on Patient Privacy and HIPAA compliance as needed.
  • Monitor spending and evaluate productivity vs. staffing targets monthly.
  • Make operational adjustments to meet departmental goals.

Qualifications / Education

  • Associate's degree in health information management or similar major required
  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician, Registered Health Information Administrator; or have certification in another health information management specialty required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an established health care organization required
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in health information management or similar major preferred
