Description
The Logistics Coordinator is the primary point-person for arranging transportation of truck freight out of the Collins Kane sawmill, and any transportation requested by the commodity trading department. The Logistics Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining and shipping inventory at off-site storage and remanufacturing facilities and for providing administrative support to the sales team
Tasks
- Coordinate shipments for delivery, including managing necessary personnel, to maximize efficiency and profitability. Ensure shipping methods comply with local, state, and federal law.
- Maintain communication with the softwood sales team and the Shipping Coordinators at the softwood sawmills to ensure the shipping schedules are on track, calendars are synced and maintained, and that carriers are communicating with the shippers and receivers.
- Report on inventory levels at the beginning and end of each week and address the data in weekly sales meetings with upper management.
- Maintain supplier, sales, and customer records.
- Prepare and process lumber and freight invoices, updating customer and vendor profiles as needed.
- Work closely with the Softwood Sales Manager, Export Logistics Coordinator, and the logistics team at other Collins locations.
- Analyze and optimize the company’s logistics processes.
- Track the sales team’s communication with customers.
- Respond to emails, phone calls, and customer inquiries for the sales team.
- Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
- On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications / Education
- Knowledge of TMX systems; Princeton TMS preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

- Bachelor’s degree in business or a similar field required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified or two (2) years of experience in logistics.
- Relevant industry-related experience preferred.
- Experience utilizing inventory management software preferred.
