Resident Assistant

Description

Assist the elderly who are functionally, physically, and or socially impaired and need 24-hour oversight. Assist residents in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of personal care and to foster independence and freedom of choice in the activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help.

Tasks

  • Help residents with dressing, bathing, hygiene, and use of mobility devices.
  • Assist with IADLs like phone calls, housekeeping, laundry, and transportation.
  • Provide assistance with medication as needed.
  • Support and participate in resident-centered activity programs.
  • Help during meals by setting up, serving, and cleaning tables.

Qualifications / Education

  • Must be able to think, act, and intervene independently in both routine and emergency situations.
  • Be self-motivated and function as an “in charge person.”
  • Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.
