Description

Assist nursing personnel in providing non-professional nursing care to residents under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse. Responsible for the care of assigned residents, tidiness of resident room, personal effects and linens. Answer call lights for all residents regardless of assignment, assist co-workers as needed to foster teamwork environment, and assist in the admission and discharge of residents. Complete height, weight and personal possession sheets, including dentures, glasses, and hearing aides.

Tasks

  • Provide full hygiene care, including dressing, oral care, foley care, and restorative exercises.
  • Give baths (tub, shower, sitz, whirlpool, etc.) as required by care plans.
  • Keep shower rooms clean; return personal care items to resident rooms.
  • Make occupied/unoccupied beds using correct linens and supplies.
  • Empty and clean commodes, urinals, bedpans; record outcomes; rinse soiled linens.
  • Assist with respectful and proper post-mortem care as needed.

Qualifications / Education

  • The individual must have successfully completed a State- approved training and competency evaluation program.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public.
  • Must be able recognize and relate pertinent information concerning resident’s requests or concerns to supervisors.
  • Must possess a high level of flexibility in regards to changes in job assignments and scheduling.
