Description

The Forestry Technician assists with all aspects of forest land management on the FSC certified, 118 thousand acre Collins Pennsylvania Forest.

Tasks

  • Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
  • Perform timber marking, boundary line maintenance, tree planting, GPS data collection, and invasive species treatments (mechanical and herbicide).
  • Keep detailed records of all tasks.
  • Work independently in remote locations with little supervision.
  • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities. Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor dry end operation to include the planer, kilns, and shipping.
  • Responsible for performance management of direct reports in accordance with company values, objectives, and policies.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, training, and support consistent with developing and sustaining a high-performing and accountable team.

Qualifications / Education

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team.
  • Strong sense of environmental stewardship and willingness to promote the integrity of the company.
  • Basic understanding of maps preferred.
  • Ability to identify forest plants preferred.
  • Ability to keep detailed records and maps.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Associate degree in forestry or a related field, minimum.
  • Field forestry experience preferred.
