Description
The Forestry Technician assists with all aspects of forest land management on the FSC certified, 118 thousand acre Collins Pennsylvania Forest.
Tasks
- Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
- Perform timber marking, boundary line maintenance, tree planting, GPS data collection, and invasive species treatments (mechanical and herbicide).
- Keep detailed records of all tasks.
- Work independently in remote locations with little supervision.
- Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
- On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor dry end operation to include the planer, kilns, and shipping.
- Responsible for performance management of direct reports in accordance with company values, objectives, and policies.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, training, and support consistent with developing and sustaining a high-performing and accountable team.
Qualifications / Education
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team.
- Strong sense of environmental stewardship and willingness to promote the integrity of the company.
- Basic understanding of maps preferred.
- Ability to identify forest plants preferred.
- Ability to keep detailed records and maps.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Report.
- Associate degree in forestry or a related field, minimum.
- Field forestry experience preferred.
