Description
Maintain paperwork for transfer or referrals; Ensure orders and records are received upon resident return. File or scan all incoming clerical information in the in-house or electronic records. Track and schedule routine labs and x-rays and transcribe vitals, input/output information, etc. into the appropriate document system.
Tasks
- Coordinate scheduled physician visits; transcribe any necessary progress notes.
- Prepare paperwork for discharge.
- Collect discharge clinical record from nursing station within 24 hrs of resident discharge or death.
- Stock forms and clerical supplies on the station.
- Complete tasks as assigned by Director of Nursing, Staff Development, or Administrator.
Qualifications / Education
- Medical office secretary certificate (or other applicable course).
- Long term care or healthcare experience preferable.
- High School Graduate or Equivalent.
- Knowledge of medical Terminology.
- Basic computer and typing/data entry skills.
- General office skills including filing, organizing, scheduling, and tracking.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Good customer service and telephone skills/etiquette, tact and warmth when dealing with family and residents.
- Ability to work within a team and empathy for the elderly.
