D&A Recovery Support Specialist

Description

Provide support for adults struggling with substance abuse or co-occurring disorders who are in need of outreach, mentoring, and peer support at all stages of recovery to assist individuals before, during and after treatment

Tasks

  • Advocate for individuals' and families' needs with professionals in substance abuse, mental health, etc.
  • Empower individuals to assert their rights and advocate for their needs in recovery.
  • Provide instruction, role modeling, and coaching in skills like budgeting, job interviewing, and more.
  • Problem-solve with individuals and collaborate with team members to eliminate recovery obstacles.
  • Provide input on personal recovery plans that guide individuals' self-determined recovery process.

Qualifications / Education

  • A high school diploma or GED. Full certification as a drug and alcohol recovery support specialist by a statewide certification body which is a member of a National certification body or certification by another state government’s substance abuse certification board preferred. This certification can be earned during employment.
