Planer Operator

Description

The Planer Operator maintains constant lumber flow to the planer.

Tasks

  • Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
  • Feed lumber to the planer while preventing overcrowding of the feed table.
  • Apply knowledge of lumber’s cut, amount, size, and grade.
  • Perform startup and shutdown equipment inspections. Perform weekly PM inspections.
  • Clean and maintain working area and equipment.
  • Report manufacturing defects to the Dry End Supervisor.
  • Train new operators.
  • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications / Education

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Confident knowledge of lumber size, grade, and quality.
  • Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
