Description
The Edger Tipple Operator manages the production flow of lumber, blocking, ties, and timbers from the outfeed of the TMT Edger to the lumber grading deck. This individual is also responsible for grading ties and timbers and returning product that does not meet specifications back to the resaw sort station.
Tasks
- Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
- Maintain the flow of lumber, blocking, ties, and timbers from the outfeed of the TMT Edger to the lumber grading deck.
- Grade ties and timbers according to customer specifications. Return substandard lumber, ties, and timbers to the resaw sort station for remanufacturing.
- Assist lumber inspector with skews and minor repairs as required.
- Perform startup and shutdown equipment inspections. Perform weekly PM inspections.
- Report manufacturing defects to the supervisor.
- Clean and maintain working area and equipment. Help with sawmill cleanup during idle periods. Train operators.
- Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
- On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications / Education
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Ability to recognize lumber species, grade, and size (width and thickness).
- Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
