Description

The Maintenance Supervisor supervises maintenance department and boiler department programs, processes, and personnel in a wood products manufacturing facility.

Tasks

  • Plan, schedule, and supervise daily, weekly, and other periodic mechanical and electrical preventative and repair and maintenance for the facility.
  • Lead a safe working environment:
  • train employees in safe equipment operation;
  • motivate employees to lead the operation to superior safety performance;
  • engage in continuing education and improvement to processes and work procedures; and
  • lead safety behavior by example.
  • Actively engage in improving maintenance programs and planning and scheduling functions.
  • Promote team communication between departments.
  • Process employee time and attendance reports.
  • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities. • Lead and mentor maintenance and boiler staff.
  • Responsible for performance management of direct reports in accordance with company values, objectives, and policies.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, training, and support consistent with developing and sustaining a high-performing and accountable team.

Qualifications / Education

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate team members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Available at all times as needed to lead repairs of mechanical breakdowns.
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures associated with the above mentioned programs and processes.

  • Knowledge of computer and preventative maintenance systems.
  • Ability to provide own basic tools.
  • Prior experience as a maintenance supervisor or lead in a wood products manufacturing facility, including work on sawmill machinery, steam systems, kilns, boiler, dust collection, and fire prevention systems.
  • Prior experience installing and maintaining
