Yard Associate - Customer Service

Performs general lumber yard duties such as delivery order preparation and loading, unloading, verification and storage or received merchandise, customer loading, delivery assistance, and general housekeeping duties. Cleans, organizes and straightens yard and related areas as directed.

• Prepare and load customer delivery orders.
• Unload, verify, count, and store incoming freight.
• Tag and store special-order merchandise properly.
• Report unsafe yard or storage conditions to management.
• Assist customers with loading and unloading.
• Perform yard housekeeping, including sweeping and trash removal.
• Return customer merchandise to designated storage areas.

• Basic reasoning concepts such as proper and safe loading practices. The person in this position must be able to complete a forklift operator’s certification. Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts in order to calculate order quantities and verification of incoming freight shipments. Knowledge of basic building materials.
