House Supervisor/ RN Charge Nurse

Description

Supervises nursing services to direct nursing to the residents' care in accordance with good nursing practice and applicable State and Federal regulations. Supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants and LPN’s.

Tasks

  • Complete admission assessments, initiate care plans, and oversee condition changes and reporting.
  • Assign staff, monitor census, ensure coverage, and maintain building security as needed.
  • Coordinate labs, appointments, meds, and physician communications; perform phlebotomy as needed.
  • Monitor infection control, equipment, resident incidents, and staff documentation for compliance.
  • Evaluate, orient, and support nursing staff; facilitate care plans and in-service training.
  • Perform direct care, skilled procedures, collect specimens, administer meds, and monitor residents.
  • Maintain clear communication, complete documentation, and support a safe, compliant environment.

Qualifications / Education

  • Must possess a current license in PA as a registered nurse
  • Must possess knowledge of: medical asepsis, body mechanics, personal care of residents, correct use and care of equipment, observation techniques, reporting and recording, thorough knowledge of nursing theory and its application
  • Must be willing to possess knowledge of and comply with regulations, policies, procedures, contracts and philosophy of the institution
  • Must maintain a courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors and co-workers and a dedication to meet the needs of the elderly
  • Must have awareness of cost containment, utilize time fully, and properly care for equipment
  • Must possess ability to accept and follow written and verbal directives
  • Must utilize good communication and observation skills
  • Exercise independent judgment and effectively deal with emergency situations
