Description

A dental laboratory technician constructs and repairs full or partial dentures and other dental appliances. Duties include working in a dental laboratory crafting custom devices such as crowns, bridges, dentures, orthodontic devices, and implants based on dentist specifications. Utilizes various materials, including metals, ceramics, and polymers, to create precise and detailed dental products.

Tasks

  • Read prescriptions or specs and examine models or impressions for dental product design.
  • Determine appropriate design and materials for dental products to be constructed.
  • Test dental appliances using articulators and micrometers for accuracy and fit.
  • Ensure appliances meet specifications and proper occlusion standards.
  • Fabricate, alter, or repair dental devices like dentures, crowns, bridges, and inlays.
  • Create or adjust appliances used for straightening teeth.
