Description
Maintain the overall operation of the Residential Care Center - residents, family members, volunteers, staff and the liaison with all other level of supervisors. Responsible for all direct care, ADLs, IADLs, medication administration, housekeeping, dietary, transportation, laundry duties, appointment scheduling and activities for all residents. Oversee the overall function of The Residential Care Center in the absence of the Administrator. Make all appropriate contacts as necessary. Maintain a safe, clean, attractive, home-like environment for residents, families and staff at the Residential Care Center. Strive to keep buildings, properties, equipment and vehicles owned and operated by the company clean, odor free and in good repair inside and out.
Tasks
- Transcribe and carry out doctor’s orders; administer meds and provide hands-on resident care.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including MAR, vitals, notes, support plans, and incident reports.
- Communicate with providers, families, and staff regarding changes, needs, and resident status.
- Support inspections, referrals, admissions, QAs, and ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Coordinate medical appointments, monitor DME needs, and maintain resident records and files.
- Uphold resident rights, ensure safety, report concerns, and collaborate with internal/external support.
- Assist with training, meetings, rounds, activities, and general administrative or facility duties.
Qualifications / Education
- Must comply with Department of Human Services, Regulation for employment eligibility
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have a high school diploma, GED diploma or active registry status on the Pennsylvania nurse aide registry
- Must complete BHS approved direct care training course and pass the competency test as per regulation
- Must successfully complete a DHS-approved medications administration course that includes the passing of the DHS performance-based competency test as well as ongoing practicums to maintain compliance
- Successfully complete education by a Certified Diabetic Trainer as required by the employer upon hire and annually as per regulation
- ∙ Must complete at least twelve (12) hours of annual training relating to your job duties
- Must possess knowledge of policies, procedures and the philosophy of the institution
- Must utilize good communication techniques: verbal, nonverbal and written
- Must have a clear understanding of and maintain confidentiality
- Must have awareness of cost containment, utilize time efficiently, properly care for equipment
- Flexible schedule is necessary
- Must be able to type, utilize computer and perform bookkeeping functions or willing to learn
- Must maintain a courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors and co-workers and a dedication to meet the needs of the elderly
- Must possess ability to accept and follow written and verbal directives
- Must utilize good communication and observation skills
- Must have and maintain valid Pennsylvania driver's license with the ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the facility and its policies and procedures as well as the facility’s insurance company’s policies and procedures. Must demonstrate competency on an ongoing basis.
- Must maintain current CPR Certification, Diabetic Certification and Medication Administration Certification
- Must possess knowledge of: medical aseptic technique, body mechanics, personal care of residents, correct use and care of equipment, observation techniques, reporting and recording, thorough knowledge of nursing theory and its application
