Description

Maintain the nursing operation of the Residential Care Center - residents, family members, volunteers, staff and the liaison with other levels of supervisors. Responsible for all direct care including housekeeping, dietary and activities for all residents. Oversee the Residential Care Center in the absence of the Administrator.

Tasks

  • Oversee and assist with resident care, activities, housekeeping, dietary tasks, and medication passes.
  • Schedule staff, resolve issues, fill call-offs, and ensure completion of assignments and shift reports.
  • Report and document incidents, health changes, admissions, deaths, and follow emergency protocols.
  • Communicate with physicians, families, and staff; handle orders, labs, appointments, and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, complete required forms, and support inspection readiness.
  • Train, evaluate, and orient staff; maintain med carts, first aid boxes, and nursing supplies.
  • Attend meetings, complete QA tasks, and stay current on policies, procedures, and Talyst use.

Qualifications / Education

  • Must be able to supervise others and use good judgment
  • Must possess a current LPN license in PA or a temporary work permit
  • Must possess knowledge of: medical aseptic technique, body mechanics, personal care of residents, correct use and care of equipment, observation techniques, reporting and recording, thorough knowledge of nursing theory and its application
  • Must be willing to possess knowledge of and comply with regulations, policies, procedures, contract and philosophy of the institution
  • Must maintain a courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors and co-workers and a dedication to meet the needs of the elderly
  • Must have awareness of cost containment, utilize time fully(give report and punch time clock at the end of your shift), and properly care for equipment
  • Must possess ability to accept and follow written and verbal directives
  • Must utilize good communication and observation skills
  • Must have current CPR certification or willing to become certified
  • Must be able to read and write in English language
  • Must possess sufficient emotional stability to respond properly to emergencies with residents and events
