Description

Responsible for properly maintaining and upgrading all equipment, structures, property, buildings, grounds and transportation vehicles.

Tasks

  • Supervise department operations, prioritize maintenance requests, and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Maintain buildings, equipment, vehicles, and grounds to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct disaster and fire drills, oversee safety rounds, and assist with inspections and evaluations.
  • Manage storage areas, stock supplies, and update inventory control documentation regularly.
  • Attend staff meetings, seminars, and in-services; support Safety Committee and QA initiatives.
  • Oversee contractors, ensure compliance with safety and confidentiality, and supervise special tasks.
  • Maintain all required documentation and ensure hazard/trash areas meet safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications / Education

  • Vocational training and/or experience in General Maintenance
  • Working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations for safety and fire prevention and assist state and federal surveyors
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulations for long term care facility and assist in emergency situations
  • Must be willing to comply with regulations, policies, procedures, contract and philosophy of the facility
  • Must maintain a courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors and co-workers, and a dedication to meet the needs of the elderly
  • Must have awareness of cost containment, utilize time fully and properly care for equipment
  • Must possess ability to accept and follow written and verbal directives
  • Must possess supervisory, organizational and planning skills
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions
  • Must utilize good communication and observation skills
  • Must have valid Pennsylvania driver's license
  • Must possess ability to respond quickly for emergency maintenance calls as necessary
  • Applicable knowledge of high/low pressure boilers, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration/air-conditioning, carpentry, grounds keeping and general equipment repair
  • Must maintain confidentiality
