Description

Assists with maintaining all equipment, structures and property of the Lutheran Home at Kane.

Tasks

  • Conduct facility tours with inspectors, complete rounds, and document temperatures and checks.
  • Perform maintenance tasks: install, repair, paint, plumb, weld, and handle basic electrical work.
  • Maintain grounds and building exterior; mow lawns, rake, remove snow, and keep entrances safe.
  • Clean, service, and store equipment; replace filters, fixtures, and assist with safety checks.
  • Document work orders, inspections, and maintenance logs; report safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Support inventory control, unload and stock supplies, and assist with housekeeping or transport.
  • Attend meetings, participate in safety/CQI committees, and assist with hazardous waste tasks.

Qualifications / Education

  • Must possess valid PA driver's license
  • Must possess willingness to respond to call-in emergency situations
  • Must possess working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electricity, masonry, painting, plastering, welding, soldering and small engine repair and maintenance trades
  • Must have basic knowledge of buildings, structures and blueprints
  • Must be able to operate powered equipment / hand tools
  • Must have extensive knowledge or credentials in a maintenance trade such as electrical systems / controls, electronics, plumbing, and/or carpentry
  • Must be willing to possess knowledge of and comply with regulations, policies, procedures, contract and philosophy of the institution
  • Must maintain a courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors and co-workers and a dedication to meet the needs of the elderly
  • Must have awareness of cost containment, utilize time fully, and properly care for equipment
  • Must possess ability to accept and follow written and verbal directives
  • Must utilize good communication and observation skills
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Must work variable shifts and rotate weekends.
