Laundry Aide

Wash, dry, fold and deliver nursing facility, residential and independent living units' linens and residents' personal laundry. Assure that an adequate clean linen supply is stocked for each shift. Ensure infection control is maintained by handling soiled linens in a manner, which minimizes the aerosolization of contaminants. Assure that linens are free from stains and are in good repair.

• Document daily tasks, maintain QA logs, and attend meetings and required staff trainings.
• Collect, wash, dry, fold, label, and deliver linens and personal laundry with infection control in mind.
• Stock linen carts and supply areas, check items for damage, and replace or repair as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe laundry area; sanitize equipment, clean lint filters, and dispose of trash.
• Notify supervisor of equipment issues, low stock, or resident clothing needs; update inventory charts.
• Support resident care by transporting them, completing laundry labeling, and tracking “lost & found.”
• Fill in for housekeeping, help train new staff, and assist with QA documentation and special projects.

• Must be willing to possess knowledge of and comply with regulations, policies, procedures, contracts and the philosophy of the institution
• Must maintain a courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors and co-workers and a dedication to meet the needs of the elderly
• Must have awareness of cost containment, utilize time fully, and properly care for equipment
• Must possess ability to accept and follow written and verbal directives
• Must utilize good communication and observation skills and be able to remember assigned duties
• Must be able to read and write in English
• Knowledge of principles of good body mechanics.
• Must have basic ability to add and subtract or use a calculator
• Must be able to perform operations with simple units of measure
