Floor Aide

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, the Floor Aide assists LHK personnel with non-nursing tasks unless they are a certified nursing assistant.

• Make beds and clean rooms after resident care is completed by nursing assistants.
• Feed residents, chart intake, and attend feeding class if not a certified nursing assistant.
• Transport residents to meals, activities, appointments, and handle room moves as needed.
• Pass nourishments, trays, and water; collect and record intake and output.
• Weigh residents, transport lab specimens, and assist with additional tasks as assigned.
• Perform cleaning duties and maintain a safe, healthy environment; report safety concerns.
• Follow infection control protocols and attend required trainings and meetings.

• Must possess the ability to compute and record intake and output amounts
• Must possess knowledge of: medical asepsis, body mechanics, personal care of residents, correct use and care of equipment, observation techniques, reporting and recording
• Must be willing to possess knowledge of and comply with regulations, policies, procedures, contract and philosophy of the institution
• Must maintain a courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors and co-workers and a dedication to meet the needs of the elderly
• Must have awareness of cost containment, utilize time fully, and properly care for equipment
• Must possess ability to accept and follow written and verbal directives
• Must utilize good communication and observation skills
• Must be able to read and write
