Description

Develop and present an orientation course to all new employees and an on-going education program for all personnel at the Facility by means of lectures, demonstrations, classroom instruction and observation of varied work performance. An important aspect of the work is the practical guidance and training provided to employees while setting an example on the clinical area. Work is reviewed through meetings, observation, period reports and review of results achieved.

Tasks

  • Teaches Nurse Aide students classroom techniques and supervises clinical training sessions.
  • Creates, updates exams, prepares course outlines, and revises curriculum as needed.
  • Evaluates new Nurse Aides and provides classroom orientation for new employees.
  • Coordinates Nurse Aide Certification exams and maintains class records per regulations.
  • Assesses departmental training needs and plans facility-wide staff training schedule.
  • Trains nursing staff on procedures, safety, and compliance; participates in Safety Committee.
  • Manages training documentation, schedules speakers, and provides competency testing.

Qualifications / Education

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited school of nursing is necessary. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • RN license is required.
  • Employee must be in good standing with the state.
  • Possession of a current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers CPR certificate is preferred. "Train The Trainer" certificate and thirty (30) hours of continuing education required every two years.
  • Sufficient experience in order to perform daily tasks with an understanding of the duties involved.
  • Minimum of one year long-term care experience is required.
