Description
Provide supervision to nursing staff and professional nursing care to residents as prescribed by a physician and in accordance with nursing practices standards and registered nurse scope of practice.
Tasks
- Supervises nursing staff daily: scheduling, recruitment, orientation, policy communication, and staffing.
- Monitors resident care and staff performance to ensure compliance with physician orders and facility policies.
- Administers medications and treatments per care plans and established protocols.
- Assesses residents’ physical/emotional status; documents changes accurately in medical records.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and modify individualized care plans.
- Uses problem-solving skills to improve resident care in coordination with the Director of Nursing Services.
- Ensures a safe environment, infection control, and emergency preparedness; communicates with families and staff.
Qualifications / Education
- Associate’s degree from an accredited school of nursing is necessary. Completion of Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Current RN license is required. Employee must be in good standing with the state. Possession of a current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers CPR certificate is required.
- Sufficient experience in order to perform daily tasks with an understanding of the duties involved. Prior experience as a Staff Nurse is required. A minimum of one year as a Charge Nurse or supervisory experience in an assisted living facility is preferred.
