RN Unit Manager

Description

Responsible to see that the unit is operating within the regulation set forth by State and Federal agencies as well as the policies and procedures of the Facility. Nursing assessment skills, clinical expertise and leadership skills are essential for success. The position will interact successfully with residents, family, medical professionals, staff and consultants.

Tasks

  • Completes resident clinical and admission assessments; assists with family and resident transitions.
  • Develops and implements individualized care plans; communicates updates to physicians regularly.
  • Leads unit meetings; maintains communication across shifts to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provides staff leadership and motivation; directs quality resident care on the unit.
  • Identifies nursing concerns, assists in problem-solving, and counsels staff as needed.
  • Performs rounds, manages IVs, central lines, PICC lines, draws blood, and evaluates emergencies.
  • Completes nursing staff evaluations, required paperwork, and collaborates to improve care delivery.

Qualifications / Education

  • Associate’s degree or diploma from an accredited school of nursing is necessary. Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • RN license is required.
  • Employee must be in good standing with the State of Pennsylvania. Possession of a current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers CPR certificate is required.
  • Sufficient experience in order to perform daily tasks with an understanding of the duties involved. Prior experience as a Staff Nurse is required. A minimum of one year as a Charge Nurse or supervisory experience in an assisted living facility is preferred.
