Description

Responsible for preparation and serving and of food. The cook prepares, cooks and serves food for meals to residents, staff, visitors, and outside agencies if applicable. Cooking schedules are planned so food is ready according to facility serving schedules.

Tasks

  • Follows production sheets, recipes, timed schedules, and prepares food per daily menus.
  • Uses various kitchen equipment properly (e.g., ovens, mixers, slicers, steamers, etc.).
  • Makes equipment decisions based on task needs and follows quantity cooking principles.
  • Ensures food safety: checks temps, practices sanitation, and uses proper storage.
  • Cleans/sanitizes equipment, keeps work areas organized, and disposes of waste properly.
  • Serves food in proper portions per schedule, including therapeutic diets and events.
  • Reports hazards, attends trainings, and maintains hygiene and safe work practices.

Qualifications / Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year working experience as a cook worker in a hospital, institution, or restaurant preferred but not required.
