Dining Service Aid

Description

Responsible for preparation and serving and of food. Follows food storage policies and insures a clean and sanitary work environment through cleaning and ware washing within the department. Follows established sanitary and infection control policies and procedures.

Tasks

  • Assists cooks with prep, cooking, portioning, and serving meals to residents.
  • Sets up trays, delivers food, and restocks unit dining areas with supplies.
  • Works as server/host, helps residents during meals, cleans dining areas.
  • Prepares salads, desserts, gelatin, and follows standardized recipes.
  • Operates and sanitizes kitchen equipment; uses dish machine and warewashing sink.
  • Reviews menus, adjusts recipes for diets, and stores supplies properly.
  • Supports special events, unloads stock, and keeps kitchen areas clean and orderly.

Qualifications / Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year working experience as food service worker in a hospital, institution, or restaurant preferred but not required
