Description
Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, administering and evaluating therapeutic recreational programming for the residents of the nursing facility in accordance with each individual’s total plan of care, and to oversee the operation of the department and staff.
Tasks
- Plan and coordinate programs improving quality of life for residents and staff.
- Assist in program operations, evaluate effectiveness, and promote resident participation.
- Promote resident-family relationships and support employee morale via programming.
- Supervise therapeutic recreation staff; handle evaluations and personnel matters.
- Coordinate staff and volunteer schedules; hold regular staff meetings.
- Complete MDS, Care Plans, progress notes; participate in Care Conferences.
- Produce reports for administration and supervise volunteers and students.
Qualifications / Education
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation or related field is preferred.
- 1 year experience in social/recreational programs, in nursing home or assisted living/personal care setting prefered
- Minimum of 2 years in management supervisory role.
